We review a lot of different tents here at Make for The Lake – beach tents, tents with awnings, you name it. But this list is pretty cool – the best tents for motorcycle camping.

With the exception of the last tent on our list, a motorcycle travel tent is pretty much like any other tent, but there are some things you need to consider before packing your belongings for a road trip of the 2-wheeled variety.

What to Look for in Motorcycle Camping Tents

  • Compact. When traveling with a motorcycle, the less you pack, the better. So whether it’s just one or two people, make note of the amount of storage you’ll have and opt for the most compact tent possible.
  • Lightweight. Don’t choose a tent that’s too heavy-duty. Durable usually means heavy, which isn’t a good thing when you’re travelling by bike.
  • Water/Wind resistance. So, even though this tent may be smaller, lighter, and even cheaper than most, you still want something to protect you from the wind and rain. Look for rain and wind resistance to make your sleep more manageable.

Now, let’s get into the list!

Best 2-Person Tent

First on our list is the Crua Duo 2 Person Tent. This one is lightweight, perfect for traveling with, and still has a good amount of space. This tent is well insulated and along with the right bedding will keep you both warm and cool in the summer.

Set-up is quick and easy, and the outer layer is water-resistant, so no need to worry about rain when you’re sleeping. This tent is great for motorcycle camping, fishing trips, hiking, bike-packing, and even your favorite music festival.

Best Lightweight Tent

Next on our list is the Naturehike backpacking camping tent! I love this one because it’s very lightweight, simple, and practical. Perfect for 1-2 people. There are nine different color options, and it has a hexagon shape. This one is the best on our list when you want to save space.

This tent is waterproof and wind-resistant, packs down small, and can be set up quickly by one person. There are two doors for easy access and excellent ventilation. The structure of this tent is made intentionally for stability and to withstand strong winds and rain.

Great tent if you’re concerned about storage space and want to pack as light as possible.

Best One-Person Tent

Next, we have the High Peak Outdoors Camping Tent. This one is the best one-person tent for motorcycle camping, not just space-wise but also because of its extra feature – a storage/vestibule section on the tent. It’s not designed to cover your motorcycle, but you could store other belongings, like your bike helmet and bags.

This tent has mesh for ventilation and a full-length rain cover. The weight is five pounds, which is reasonable, and it’s suitable for three seasons. It’s a smaller-sized easy-to-pack tent, but that vestibule adds a lot of versatility

So, if you’re traveling by yourself and want that extra storage, check this one out!

Best 3-4 Person Tent for Motorcycle Camping

Next, we have the Outsunny Camping Dome Tent. This one also has a vestibule, like the previous tent, but bigger. If you’re traveling with a few friends on a couple of motorbikes, this tent is an excellent choice.

The separate rooms add privacy, and if you want to sleep in the open air, you can lay out under the vestibule. There are two doors for easier access and ventilation, and the ground nails and ropes will keep the tent stable even in strong winds.

Best Motorcycle Garage

Last, but not least, is my favorite tent on our list. It’s the Vuz 12-foot Waterproof Motorcycle Tent. This tent was designed specifically with the motorcycle adventurer in mind. There are two main sections of this tent, with enough sleeping area for 3-4 people.

The best part is that one-half of this tent can fit your entire motorcycle underneath. Meanwhile, the other side of the tent is a great sleeping and storage space.

This tent makes it easy to take your motorcycle to a campground. Your bike will be protected from the rain, and will withstand some fairly strong winds put even in strong winds. It’s the largest on our list, however, so make sure to check the dimensions and measurements before purchasing.

Overall, this is a great tent for 2 or more people that’s easy set-up and tear-down.
